Pet Insurance

With any pet, comes the responsibility of care throughout its lifetime... Sometimes unexpected costs arise and an option to help owners with these expenses is having pet health insurance. There are different types of plans with each pet insurance company, so it will be beneficial to you to look into which plan best suit your family's needs. Please see a list of insurance companies on the next page.

Normally, insurance works by covering a percentage of your invoice and reimbursing you either by direct deposit or by cheque. The amount reimbursed depends on your policy, your deductible and will be affected by any pre-existing conditions. There are some instances where the hospital can be paid directly, such as when there has been a pre-approval for procedures, but this usually requires the client to contact the pet insurance company ahead of the appointment and providing an estimate from the hospital.

How Can We Help You With Your Claim?

1) Inform us that you have pet insurance

Each pet insurance company has a different procedure, but to get started, please inform the receptionist upon check-out after each appointment that you would like to make a claim so that we are aware that records will need to be sent. Please provide us with the following information:

      • The name of the pet insurance company you are with
      • The policy or customer #
      • The pet's name (if you have multiple pets)

2) Filling out claim forms:

Claim forms will require veterinary staff to fill out and sign off on medical information. Please either provide us with a paper or digital claim form with your information filled out. We will email it back to you, the client, for you to sign and to send to the insurance company with your invoice once it has been complete.

*Depending on which insurance company you are with, claim forms may not be needed and all they request from us are medical records (such as Pet Plan/Fetch). If a claim form is needed, please log into your insurance provider's website to download it.

3) Sending medical records:

Your pets' medical records will be sent directly to the insurance company to prevent any miscommunication.

Client's may ask to be CC'ed onto the email.

*Please note that we are NOT an insurance company, we are here to assist clients and the insurance company by providing documentation. We do not decide what is covered and the amount you will be reimbursed if your pet is covered. Please review your insurance policy and contact the insurance company for details.
